ECHA Proposes 15 Substances for Authorisation|Laws|SIT Testing Lab

15 substances of very high concern (SVHCs) are recommended to be added to the Authorisation List of REACH by European Chemical Agency (ECHA). Substances included in the authorization list cannot be supplied for use or used after the sunset date unless that use is exempted or an authorisation has been granted. Manufacturers, importers, downstream users can apply for authorization for the use of a substance on the list.

The recommended substances are listed as below:

Anthracene oil	Use in coatings, paints, waterproofing materials, sealants.
Pitch, coal tar, high temp.	Anti-corrosion agent in coatings, paints, adhesives and sealants. Binding agent for clay pigeons.
4-Nonylphenol, branched and linear, ethoxylated	Floating agent in mining. Use in paints and in emulsion polymerisation.
Boric acid	Cellulose insulation, metallurgy, adhesives, construction materials, coatings, detergents, refractories, fertilisers.
Disodium tetraborate, anhydrous	Cellulose insulation, metallurgy, adhesives, construction materials, coatings, detergents, refractories.
Diboron trioxide	Cellulose insulation, metallurgy, adhesives, construction materials, coatings, detergents, refractories.
Tetraboron disodium heptaoxide, hy-drate	Cellulose insulation, metallurgy, adhesives, construction materials, coatings, detergents, refractories.
